Build-It-Yourself inspires kids to build their own toys, robots, puppets and other inventions.

Lab Books:
Lab books are an important part of inventing. A good lab book will:

help you remember good ideas.
help your teammates build on each other's ideas.
give the patent office the record it needs to make you famous.

Leo DaVinci's lab books were works of art. His ideas were revolutionary. And his many fans were able to study his ideas because he documented them so beautifully.

Your goal is to make others who study your lab book say, "Wow, a hot shot inventor did this!"

Fold some 8.5"x11" paper in half. These will be the pages. Cut an 8.5"x11" rectangle from a manila folder and fold that in half. This sheet will be your cover.

Number each page and sign your name when you enter a new page.

Practice the drawing exercises from Build-It-Blocks on the first few pages.

When you think you're getting pretty good at drawing your ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly, design a lab book cover that says,

Your Name
Lab Book
Use your best graffiti.

If you want to be a "stud" you could make your lab book in Word or Power Point.
