Project Based Learning Program

The Project:

Imagine that you inherit 1/2 acre of land. Your mission is to design and build a house that you would like to live in. Your budget is $150,000. The foundation is 24' x 34'. You must plan the layout, build a 1/4" scale model, estimate the cost and present your design and construction plan to a bank for financing.

The Strategy:

This project is designed to show students how computer applications can help them become productive, professional construction contractors.

Use MS Power Point to design the
floor plan and elevations.
Use MS Excel to estimate the cost of your house.
Use MS Word to write a property specification.
Use an Internet search engine to research material costs.
Use a video conferencing system to collaborate with specialists.
