General evaluations for recommendations: One of our goals for interns and student developers is to provide an experience that will be helpful in school and job applications. Recommendations will point to examples that support answers to the following questions: Teamwork / Leadership: - Did you share ideas in meetings? - Did you help others? - Did you listen? Were you flexible? Did you accommodate the ideas of others? - Did your teammates follow your suggestions enthusiastically? - Did you build relationships? Initiative: - Did you demonstrate passion for your work? - Did you do more than was asked of you? - Did you offer new ideas that were incorporated? Professionalism: - Did you read and return emails promptly? - Were you on time to meetings? - Did you prepare for meetings? - Did you sell Build-It-Yourself effectively? - Were your presentations clear, concise and convincing? - Did you communicate maturely? - Did you plan time to avoid last minute problems? - Did you do what you say you will do? - Were you respectful of teammates and customers? - Did you participate regularly? - Did you cancel commitments in advance? Knowledge: - Did you have broad, useful skills? (identify) - Did you have deep, useful skills? - Did you learn new skills quickly? Problem solving skills: - Did you set goals and identify problems early? - Did you research and build on the ideas of others? - Did you break solutions into simple modules? - Was your documentation clear to contemporaries?
