IR Controller:
If you want to send more than 3 controlling signals, this design will allow you to select and detect 4 colors with a color wheel and light sensor attached to input port 1.   Select a color and then press a switch on input port 2 to send an IR signal associated with that color.

This design uses the time a switch on input port 3 is pressed to create 2 additional states.  If switch 3 is pressed less than .5 seconds a 20 IR signal is sent.  If switch is pressed more than .5 seconds a 22 IR signal is sent.

Lift and Push Strategy:
Modify the Roll Fwd/Bkwd/Rt/Lt Chassis
Replace 1 center steering wheel with 2 front right and left steering wheels.
Make the chassis wider to accommodate 2 RCX's.
Make the chassis longer to accommodate an extended Spin Sideways horizontal gear train.

If each RCX controls a wheel motor, there will be more current to power each motor.  This also add valuable weight to the robot.

Build a plow that lifts opposing robots driven by the extended Spin Sideways gear train.

Swing and Smash Strategy:
This robot swings a 2-foot arm back an forth gradually pushing anything in its path outward.  A motor directing driving a wheel at the end of the arm creates a pretty hefty momentum punch.

You need to lower the arm from the starting position.  Use a Spin Sideways horizontal gear train to unwind a string tied to the end of the arm to lower it.

Keep It Simple Defensive Strategy:
Build a series of ramps that on hinges that unfold when a motor spins an arm.  The ramps should make it hard for competitors to lift this robot or find a good place to push it.  Swing the arm every 15 seconds just to show the judges you're alive while the others fizzle out their batteries.  You will at least win 1 point per match for a tie or 3 points if your opponent breaks down.

This strategy is simple to program and has few moving parts that could break.
