ABOUT BUILD-IT-YOURSELF

Build-It-Yourself has developed a playful, after-school art and engineering program, inspired by technology-in-education research at MIT and the computer game, 'SPORE.'

Our mission is to inspire and guide kids (8-18) to use technology creatively, constructively and collaboratively in a unique global laboratory.

PLATFORM  / MULTI-MEDIA DEVELOPERS

We seek platform and multimedia developers to convert Invention Universe from Flash to HTML5.

Invention Universe enables members to customize a planet, post projects, create a personal bio, explore the universe of planets and collaborate with other builders.

Responsibilities include:
1) Re-architecting and re-building our website
2) Documentation and project management

Qualities and skills we seek include:
1) Interest in computer games, art, engineering and kids.
2) Playful spirit.
3) Multimedia design
4) Database driven Web application design 

Compensation:
$10 - $14 / hr. (bonus is possible if targets met)

REGIONAL MANAGERS AND WEBCAST WORKSHOP LEADERS

We seek artists, engineers, programmers and business developers to develop regional territories including:
1) recruiting, training and managing  workshop leaders, 
2) growing memberships, 
3) scheduling and delivering webcast workshops.

Responsibilities include:
1) Developing a home town territory
2) Teaching kids art, programming and engineering tricks.
3) Documenting results.

Qualities and skills we seek include:
1) Interest in computer games, art, engineering, teaching and kids.
2) Playful spirit.
3) Selling, acting, singing, public speaking

Compensation:
$10 - $35 / hr. (bonus is possible if targets met)

CONTENT  DEVELOPERS

We seek 'builders' (programmers, mechanical engineers, artists or architects) to evolve our libraries of project storylines, functional building blocks, and PPT lessons.

Responsibilities include:
1) Story writing
2) Developing and presenting mechanical mechanisms and software subroutines
2) Documentation and project management

Qualities and skills we seek include:
1) Interest in computer games, art, engineering and kids.
2) Playful spirit.
3) Multimedia design
4) Building and/or programming experience 

Compensation:
$10 - $14 / hr. (bonus is possible if targets met)

BUSINESS DEVELOPER

We seek an MBA to eventually lead the company.

Responsibilities include:
1) Researching, pitching and closing corporate distribution partnerships.
2) Developing a viral marketing program.
3) Coordinating the development of regional territories.

Qualities we seek in a business developer include:
1) Interest in computer games, art and engineering.
2) Ability to close significant distribution deals efficiently.
3) Experience with social media tools and viral marketing programs.
4) Entrepreneurial mindset ... to work for significant rewards based on success.
5) Playful spirit.

Compensation will include 3 components:
1) Below market base pay.
2) Bonus based on meeting short term goals that could equate to an average MBA starting salary.
3) Equity that could equate to significantly more than an average MBA starting salary.
