First LEGO League Coaching:

First LEGO League (FLL) is a popular, world-wide robotics competition. 160,000 kids registered in 2012. Build-It-Yourself engineers coach teams to:
  1. Build a competitive, autonomous robot that can accomplish multiple FLL challenges.
  2. Research and present how technology can solve a specific problem in society.

Press Release

Robot Solution:

We built 4 chassis and settled on one with treads in order to climb the stairs (worth 65 points).

Robot Solution:

We built two modular arms. One to get and put chair (30 points) and one to move the quilt (30 points).

Robot Solution:

We used wheel rotation sensing because this simplified the program and was accurate more than 50% of the time.

Research Solution:

The problem we chose to solve is that a significant percentage of senior citizens are sad, lonely or depressed.

Our mission is to build a robot that will make senior citizens laugh.

Research Solution:

We built robotic modules to display a joke, tell your fortune and deliver a cookie.

Research Solution:

We created playful puppet robots to present the entertainment features.

Research Solution:

We wrote a Robolab program to integrate all the mechanical modules.

We created a PowerPoint Lab Book to document our project.
